Edinburgh & East Alliance

I was back out on the golf course last Wednesday to complete in the Edinburgh & East Alliance at Eyemouth. Conditions were tough but I managed to finish in 3rd Place with 74, 2 over par. Can’t wait for my next event in January at Gullane No.3.

Club news

Winter League / Pro Sweep

We had mixed weather on Saturday however 26 members braved the weather with Lindsay Gibson scoring 40 points and winning the competition, Ian Douglas was second with 38 points moving him into first place in the Winter League with 192 points in total. John McGowan senior who did not play this weekend is still in second place with 190 points with Jim Dougan in 3rd with 187 points.

Unfortunately, the course was closed Sunday so no competition.

The full winter league results table is posted in the pro shop notice board.

You still have time to join the Winter League. Details of the format are below:
Format –18 holes stableford format, best five stableford rounds overall
Price – £10 to enter then £3 every week you play (Saturday or Sunday)
Handicaps – Winter handicap will apply (National Handicap will not change for 2020)
NO GIMMIES, EVERYTHING MUST BE HOLED OUT

Christmas Cracker Weekend

Thank you to everyone who made it to pull a cracker from our tree. We hope you all enjoyed this event and got to try the home baking made by Mrs Anderson. We had a busy weekend and gave out over £1800 in discounts.

Around midday on Saturday Robert Richmond found our half-price shopper cracker and walked away with his new PING Jacket for £40.

Poor weather on Sunday closed the course so we didn’t see as many customers as hoped and the 100% cracker was not picked. To prove that the golden ticket is still on the tree we decided to continue the promotion until it is found.

Sometimes, the difference between a scratch golfer and a 9-handicapper can be quite small, such as how far they each hit the ball. However, there is certainly one part of the game that can be hugely different and it’s the area where your score is either made or lost.

Why the gap?

It's brilliant to see more club golfers getting fitted for new clubs now than ever before, and long may that continue!

But why would you not get fitted for your wedges?

With modern lofts on irons being stronger than ever (one of the reasons today's irons go further than a decade ago), golfers are often left with huge gaps between clubs at the bottom of their bag.

With lofts available from 46 (PW) to 60 (LW) degrees, we'd highly recommend getting fitted for PING’s Glide 3.0 wedges as not only will they provide you with great performance around the green, but the correct set-up will easily fill any gaps you might have.
