Hello Golfers,

Storm Ciara has arrived at Shotts GC. We currently have 5 inches of snow laying on the golf course with no sign of it thawing over the next few days.

The greenkeepers have cleared the entrance and car park for anyone up to visit us.

AGM

Due to MetOffice warnings of severe weather disruption and caution against any avoidable travel on Monday 10th February due to very strong winds and heavy snowfall in the Shotts area the Captain and committee have decided that the AGM should be postponed until 7.30pm on Monday 24th February 2020.

Competition results

Winter League

We had full tee sheet on Saturday with everyone making the most of the dry weather before Storm Ciara arrived! Conditions were bitter cold with strong gusts of wind. Ross Nicholls secured first place with 36 points and won by 1 point over Jim Dougan and Jonathon Bessant. No changes to the overall league table. No competition on Sunday as the golf course was closed for flooding.

Second Class Team Match

This season the club has supported the proposal to have a second class team representing the club in a series of team matches against local clubs and if there is sustained interest enter a knockout competition ran by Lanarkshire Golf Association.

The purpose is to give any player the chance who may not have a handicap low enough to be selected for the first team but would like to represent the club and experience team golf. The matches will be played on Monday evenings throughout the season. Players will only be eligible to be selected if they are not category 1 handicap or have not played for the first or senior team. If interested please contact Jim Law who will organise a meeting at the club for those who are interested in the first instance.
