The club knockout entry sheet will be posted on the notice board until the closing date Sunday 12th April 2020.

The coronavirus is infecting hundreds in the UK so member Des Quigley is taking no risks, it won’t stop him playing golf!

Clubhouse summer hours

From Saturday, 28 March, the clubhouse and catering areas of the club will only be open as below;

Carol and John McFarlane will be in from 8 am at the weekends for morning rolls and coffee.

Competition news

Winter league

Playing conditions were challenging again at the weekend with strong wind and showers both days. On Saturday Gary Stewart took the top spot with 39 points closely followed by Gary Earl with 37 and Robert Jarvie on 36. The old firm game was cancelled on Sunday so the golf course was a lot busier than a usual old firm Sunday. David Caldwell cruised to victory with 40 points in front of Alan Hay with on 37 points.

No changes to the table this week. It’s still all to play for going into the last weekend.

Sociable sessions

Playing golf with your friends is one of the best things about this sport but, if you’re tired of playing long strokeplay rounds in your fourball, why not try some of the fun formats below the next time you find yourself going out in a four?

4BBB

This game is a lot of fun and sees both team members play their own ball, with the lowest score counting at each hole. In a fourball betterball match, players receive 90% of the difference from the player with the lowest handicap.

Greensomes

Both partners tee off on each hole. You then choose the best drive and play alternate shots for the rest of the hole. Your greensomes handicap should be 60% of the lower partner’s handicap added to 40% of the higher partner’s.

Gruesomes

This is a great way to find out who your true friends are as the format is the same as Greensomes only your opposition decide which drive you play from. Although don't blame us if you all end up falling out over it.
