Club news

The big day is finally here.

Tomorrow is the day we get back on the golf course! (Unless Nicola changes her mind last minute)

It’s been a long wait but it will be worth it. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

As you can imagine it’s been crazy busy the last few days with members trying to reserve tee times. The BRS system has been overwhelmed and crashed a few times with the amount of users trying to book. We do expect the demand to drop off after the first few days. We will try to help as many of you book as possible but would appreciate your patience during this time.

Return to Golf Guidelines

We have a reminder of the guidelines you can expect when returning to the course from Friday.

Click and collect service

We will be trying our best to provide a click and collect service for the Professional shop. If you give us a call/email or Whatsapp message in advance we will have your shopping ready when you arrive at the course.

Drinks, sweets, golf balls, golf gloves, caps we will try to supply as much as we can.

Professional Shop Guidelines

· Max 2 customers at any time

· Respect social distancing with others

· 1 way system, please follow signage

· Card or contactless payments preferred

· Click & collect service

Golf Course Guidelines

· Strictly 2 balls until further notice

· Booking essential, don’t come to play golf if you have not booked a tee time.

· Check-in at the Professional Shop

· Scorecards will be left at 1st & 9th tees

· Always remember the 2m Rule

· Use of your own hand sanitiser is recommended

· Wait until the next tee is has been vacated by the group in front before entering

· No cutting in or skipping between holes etc

· If not playing a full round plan to exit at either the 8th, 13th or 15th Holes

· The flagstick should not be handled at any time

· With no rakes in play Bunkers will be treated as ground under repair and the ball must be removed. Also, Benches, Ball Washers, and Ball Retrievers from ditches will not be in use at present

· As all the bins have been removed from the course the members are asked to take any rubbish, they have home with them for disposal

· At no time should any member come into contact with any of the green staff again the 2m rule must be observed

· Exit the course as per the designated route and leave the golf course immediately

Booking Guidelines

· BRS booking will open 3 days in advance at 8am

· Limited phone times will be available by contacting the Professional Shop after 8am

· Tee times will start from 7am every day

· Strictly 2 balls until further notice

· All players must book a tee time and report to Professional shop before play

Ryder Cup

Could this really happen?

Over the past couple of weeks, we've been lucky enough to watch Tiger, Rory and a select few others take to the course to raise money for charities.

But, it's got us thinking...

With the PGA Tour set to return next month and the European Tour the month after - both without fans for a while - will September's Ryder Cup match between Europe and USA go ahead?

If it does, it'll likely be without spectators but would that be the same spectacle? Think back to Paris in 2018 when the cameras panned around the first tee at the start of each match to thousands of fans in the grandstand. It was a sight to behold.

Thoughts for the course

Home advantage is a phenomenon across most sports. In golf, playing a competition or match on a course you know like the back of your hand has obvious benefits. However, when playing a hole for the hundredth time, it’s easy to fall into the trap of playing it the same way you always have. But, what if there’s another way?

Risk and reward - take on the challenge?

This is where the question of risk and reward comes in.

Does the potential risk of bringing danger into play, be it trees or hazards, outweigh the potential reward?

Next time you’re standing on the tee, weigh up the potential risks and rewards of pulling out your driver. Don’t just think about avoiding doubles and trebles, consider the potential birdie or scoring 3-points. Likewise, if you struggle with a particular tee-shot, think about alternative ways to play that hole.

Confident in the challenge?

We’ve all stood on a tee box at some point and struggled to muster up the courage to take out the driver. But, when you do, the key is to commit to the shot at hand, rather than trying to guide the ball down the fairway - something a lot of golfers will be doing after a few months without playing.
